1. Information of the person in charge

The Tecolutla, Veracruz Tourist Platform is the entity responsible for the processing of your personal data. If you have any questions or concerns about the processing of your data, you can contact us through the following contact information:

2. Personal information collected

From those who create an account, through signing in with Google: first name, last name, email address and profile picture. Optionally, where you are from, if you choose to add it to your account.

From any visit, with or without an account:

• IP address, browser and an approximate location —country, state and city— derived from that address.
• The pages you visit and what you search for within the site.
• When you ask a lodging about availability: the place, the dates and the number of guests you chose. Whatever you write afterwards happens inside WhatsApp and does not go through us.
• Any text you copy from a page.
• The reviews and experiences you publish, along with your name and profile picture.
• Whatever you write to the chat assistant.

3. Purposes of processing

We collect and use your personal information for the following purposes, in accordance with articles 16 and 17 of the LFPDPPP:

• Provide tourist information services and recommendations.
• Put visitors in touch with the businesses in the guide.
• Carry out analysis and statistical studies to improve our services.
• Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is the consent granted by you when using our services.

4. Chat assistant

The site includes an assistant that answers questions about the town. It runs on a language model hosted on the platform’s own servers. Some queries are resolved with specialized third-party services, which only receive the text of your message.

Conversations are stored under a browser identifier —not under your name, unless you are signed in— to keep the conversation going and to review the quality of the answers. If the assistant cannot resolve something, the conversation may be handed over to a person on the team, who reads it in order to reply.

It is a tourist information chat: do not write there anything you would not want stored, such as passwords or banking details.

The same assistant answers on WhatsApp. There, your phone number is also stored, since that is how WhatsApp identifies the conversation.

When we ask you for a phone number. If a lodging is not replying to you and your case is handed to a person on the team, the assistant may offer you the option of leaving a contact number. Giving it to us is voluntary: the chat works the same if you don’t. We use it only to ask that lodging and come back to you with their answer; we do not use it for advertising, we do not share it with the lodging or anyone else, and we do not add it to any mailing list. It is stored along with the reason for your case until the team closes it, and we keep it for twelve months at most. You can ask us to delete it sooner by writing to contacto@tecolutlaveracruz.mx — see section 7.

5. Sharing personal information

We may share your personal information in the following circumstances:

• Those who provide services to the platform: usage analytics, maps, video playback and language models, to the extent needed for those features to work.
• The businesses in the guide: when you ask about availability, the business is notified of your enquiry.
• Authorities: when required by a legal obligation.

We will not share your personal information with third parties for direct marketing or advertising purposes without your prior consent.

6. Data retention

Your account information and whatever you have published are kept for as long as the account exists.

Usage records —visits, searches, availability enquiries and conversations with the assistant— are kept indefinitely: they are the record used to compare one season with the next and to measure whether the guide is doing its job. By using the site you accept that retention. You can ask us to delete what is associated with you by writing to our contact email.

7. User Rights

In accordance with articles 22, 23, and other applicable articles of the LFPDPPP, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

• Access: You can request information about the personal data we have stored about you.
• Rectification: You can request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Cancellation: You can request the deletion of your personal data when you consider that it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
• Opposition: You can oppose the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

You can exercise these rights by writing to contacto@tecolutlaveracruz.mx. We reply within twenty business days at the latest.

8. Minors

The site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

9. Data security

We take technical, administrative and physical security measures to protect your personal data against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. We comply with the security provisions established in article 19 of the LFPDPPP.

10. Use of cookies and similar technologies

By using our platform, you agree to the use of these technologies:

• Session. A cookie of our own while you are signed in.
• In your browser’s storage (it never leaves your device): the light or dark theme, the dates and number of guests from the lodging search —kept for that day only— and the draft of a review you started writing.
• Our own analytics, hosted on a server under our control, without cookies.
• Copied text. When you copy something from a page, our analytics tool records the snippet —up to 500 characters— and which part of the page it came from. It tells us what people are taking away with them: almost always a phone number or an address.
• Google Analytics 4, with the cookies Google describes in its policy.
• Maps: when you open a map, your browser requests the images from the tile provider, which sees your IP address.
• Videos: they do not load on their own. If you tap one, the YouTube player opens and Google’s terms apply.
• Facebook: some pages may show the panel of our Facebook page, which loads content from Meta.
• Fonts are served from this site itself.

You can manage your preferences for cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings. Please note that by disabling or restricting the use of cookies, some functionality of our platform may be affected.

11. Privacy Policy Changes

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any modification will be effective from its publication on our platform. We recommend that you periodically review this Privacy Policy to be informed of changes.

12. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy is governed by Mexican law and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Mexican courts, in accordance with article 38 of the LFPDPPP.
